Super Swap Pets

This is our entry to the GMTK Game Jam 2023 with the theme "Rolls Reversed". We took the theme literally and created an "adventurous"  world in which a bizarre shape shifter roams in order to give his restless soul a place to settle.

Controls

• Use the arrow keys or WASD to move
• Jump with SPACE
• Interact with the surroundings with E
• Reverse the roles with R

Idea

This is obviously rather a tech demo than an actual game. The main idea was to create a metroidvania 2D platformer, where new bodies with new abilities and can be found along the way.

Things we liked to do but couldn't due to the time constraint of 48h:

• Sounds for the character and the environment
• Improved movements
• Animations for moving, shapeshifting, interactions
• More body types with new abilities, buffs and nervs
• Enemies
• and so on :)
